Seed Giveaway for PPC Pod Leaders from Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds
The folks from Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds are offering a free seed giveaway! This invitation is open to all leaders of PlantPure Communities Pods who want to create a garden in their community. Baker Creek is passionate about regenerative agriculture, a sustainable practice for growing crops that reduces carbon emissions, increases biodiversity, and produces higher yields. Those at Baker Creek also strongly believe in providing fresh produce to people in food deserts and other underserved communities and welcomes requests from PPC Pod Leaders who would like free heirloom seeds for Pod projects and community use. Potential uses might include creating a community or school garden, a Pod garden, or a personal garden in your backyard or rooftop.
Please note: Baker Creek asks that you carefully consider the intended use of these seeds before you submit a request, because they do not want to give away seeds that may be neglected or discarded.

Follow this Application Process:
Step 1. Apply: Submit your application for a $100 gift certificate by emailing Kathleen McFarland: kmcfarla8505@gmail.com and Ray Cooper: raycooper120@gmail.com at Baker Creek Seeds, and PlantPure Communities: podsupport@plantpurecommunities.org. Use the subject line: “PPC Certificate Donation Request” and provide the following information:
- Your Name
- Name of your PPC Pod
- Your email address
- Your phone number
- Your shipping address
- Your intended purpose for the seeds. Please explain how the seeds will be used–community garden, Pod garden, outreach project?
- Please copy and paste the following terms and conditions into your email message: “As a condition of the free seed giveaway, I agree to share photos of my garden and a testimonial with Baker Creek and PlantPure Communities by November 30, 2021. I understand that my name, Pod name, testimony, and photos/images of my seeds/garden/gardening project may be used by PlantPure Communities and Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds for promotional materials, and in email, social media, and other communications.”
Step 2. Order Your Seeds: After you receive your gift certificate, choose your free seeds by going to rareseeds.com, and enter the gift card code at checkout. You may order any seeds for a total of up to $100. (Each seed packet is approximately $3-$4, so you can choose approximately 30 packets.) The deadline to order is July 31, 2021. Shipping Note: If certificate is to be used for shipment outside of the continental U.S. please assign $15 of the gift certificate for customs and international shipping cost. (U.S. seeds are shipped for free.) If 30 seed packets do not meet the seed requirements for your community project, please contact Kathleen to explore the possibility of getting additional seeds.
Step 3. Alert Us: Please send a message to Baker Creek at kmcfarla8505@gmail.com and raycooper120@gmail.com, and PPC at podsupport@plantpurecommunities.org when you receive email confirmation of your seed order.
Step 4. Share Your Results: Please send a message to Baker Creek at kmcfarla8505@gmail.com and raycooper120@gmail.com, and PPC at podsupport@plantpurecommunities.org after starting your garden to share the results of the giveaway. Please send a description of how the seeds were used, photos of your garden growing, and/or photos of people enjoying the produce that was grown. The deadline is November 30, 2021.
