Paige Putnam, age 10, is the oldest daughter of Scott Putnam, who, alongside his wife, Beth, started the Field of Greens Group in Dubuque, Iowa, after watching the film PlantPure Nation and being inspired to be part of this grassroots movement.

Passionate about eating plant-based to help save animals as well as the environment, Paige found out about the Certificate in Plant-based Nutrition, offered by eCornell (Cornell University’s online education division). The Certificate in Plant-based Nutrition is a ground-breaking, online program created by Dr. T. Colin Campbell, professor emeritus of nutritional biochemistry and author of best-sellers The China Studyand Whole. The program is designed to help both health professionals and laymen understand the role of diet in everyday health and healing. Paige knew she wanted to graduate—but would they accept her into the program at her young age?

She was anxious to find out if they would accept her into the program, so Beth recorded a video message from her in case he got to meet Dr. Campbell at the PlantPure Nation screening in Chicago. With the help of Patty Corry, wife of Forks Over Knives and PlantPure Nationproducer John Corry, Scott was able to show Paige’s video to Dr. Campbell. To Paige’s delight, Dr. Campbell asked to record a personal video message back to her to let her know that they would welcome her into the program. He also predicted that she would light the world on fire!

Since then, Paige is proud to have completed the course and is already looking for new hurdles to conquer. Her next goal? Teaching other kids how fun and delicious it is to go plant-based through blogs and video on her parents’ website, WholeLivingNutrition.com.

Paige is also very excited about possibly thanking Dr. Campbell in person for his kind heart when she travels with her family on the Holistic Holiday at Sea Cruise (www.holisticholidayatsea.com) to the Caribbean. As if cruising to the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and the Bahamas isn’t fantastic enough, guests will get to meet and hear dozens of top experts in the plant-based world (including Nelson and Kim Campbell), plus schedule coaching sessions, massages, and more. Dozens of people have shared with us that it’s been one of the best things they’ve ever done, so be sure to put it on your calendar for next year (and if you are lucky enough to go this year, be sure to congratulate Paige if you see her!).
