Leadership Coalition Forming around the Food-Climate Connection
Nonprofit coordinating food and environmental leaders to address the climate impacts of the standard American diet (aka SAD)
[New York, NY] A press conference is being held on November 1st at 3pm to announce a new coalition building initiative of nutrition and climate/environmental leaders who will work collaboratively to develop principles and a common agenda and actively carry out strategies that reflect the climate impacts of our food choices. At the press conference, the nonprofit PlantPure Communities (PPC) will be joined by Dr. T. Colin Campbell, PhD, an esteemed scientist considered by many as the science father of the plant-based nutrition movement; his son, Nelson Campbell, director of the PlantPure Nation feature film and founder of PlantPure Communities; Peter Lehner, Senior Strategic Advisor at Earthjustice; and others.
This coalition building initiative is particularly timely, as an important report was released by the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) earlier this month, that calls for everyone to eat 30% less animal products. The coalition will work collaboratively to develop principles and a common agenda and actively carry out strategies that reflect the climate impacts of our food choices. The coalition building initiative is a one-year process, starting in November 2018, culminating in a face-to-face gathering in May 2019, by invitation only, at the Pocantico Center of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund in New York.
The press and other media influencers are invited to attend the press conference, which will offer an overview of the initiative, and PPC reps and other leaders will be on hand to provide information and answer questions.
