Here are some specific tips:
- Restaurants: Before you go, try looking at the menu online so that you have a good idea of what you are going to order. If you cannot find a good option, order several sides that can be placed on a single plate.
- Visiting friends and family: Offer to bring a side dish (or two) that is hearty, tasty and everyone will enjoy. Options like pasta dishes, salads, or dip trays with veggies and pita bread always go over well.
- Office Party or Cocktail Party: Eat something beforehand so you are not starving when you walk into the party. Focus on enjoying the people, not necessarily the food. Most often there will be a vegetable or fruit tray available.
Eating healthy is actually the new, ‘in thing’, so relax and realize in almost every circumstances you will be able to find something you will want to eat. The trick is relax and enjoy the social experience!
