The Disproportionate Health and Climate Impacts on Underserved Neighborhoods and Communities of Color from our Food Choices: Roundtable Webinar
September 3, 2020, 1:30-2:45 pm EDT
This online Roundtable explores some of the multi-dimensional aspects of food in underserved neighborhoods and communities of color, e.g., hunger, affordability, availability, food desert issues, school food programs, and SNAP (food stamps). It touches on the importance of ensuring that strategies reach low-income residents, are led by authentic local leaders, benefit communities of color and are scalable. This is a preliminary Roundtable to help inform the PPC autumn Global 10-Day Jumpstart which will have a greater focus on the health disparities in communities of color laid bare by COVID. Hear from Diego Ponieman, MD, Chief Medical Officer, SOMOS Community Care; Mathy Stanislaus, Sr. Obama Admin official; and Dawn Moncrief Founder/President, A Well-Fed World – professionally facilitated by Allen Zerkin.
This webinar was part of PlantPure Communities Global 10-Day Jumpstart.
